Finally MBS @ PeMANIK is registered !!!

As the Committee Members busy doing the preparation for MBS 1st Gathering on this coming Sunday, we received a very very good news. Alhamdulillah, finally Jabatan Pendaftaran Pertubuhan Selangor has approved our application as a registered society. MBS is now registered as Persatuan Pengusaha & Peminat Manik (PeMANIK) with Registration No. 158-11-SE on 23 March 2011.

Some of the Committee Members were at De Palma In Shah Alam discussing with the hotel on the arrangement for the event when our President, Datin Elly Lillies and Lavendar received a phone call from our Advisor, Imass Seni Jahitan who broke the news. Everybody screamed to their joy upon hearing this. After all hard work & sacrifice finally our dreams come true. I really missed this moment as I just left the hotel few minutes later.

This news comes so timely, juz days before our event - MBS 1st Gathering. So far, we have received an overhelming response from beaders, with 88 (a nice number, good sign) people has registered. So look up for the next post from me on MBS 1s Gathering on 27 March 2011 at De Palma Inn Shah Alam.

Beading - A Stress Therapy

That wuz what posted in Harian Metro, 26 January 2011. An article about a group of ladies (they're all my beading frenz.. !!!) choose beading as their hobby. Other than juz to fill up their free leisure hours, they managed to generate some income from their hobby. And the best part, they known each other for past a year via Facebook.

We normally meet once a week or more, to discuss on our beadworks. We also do share our knowledge among each other on some beading techniques. On top of that, some of us do conduct beading classes for those who are in interested to venture more into beads embroidery.

I wuz not there during the photoshoot, as I had some other appointment to attend. Ho.. ho.. I missed this golden opportunity. I wuz told some of them had even received calls, sms & messages in their FB enquiring about their beading services after their contact numbers and blog links were posted in the article. So can I called them as 'Celeb Beaders'.. ?? Ho ho ho.. i missed the boat (I wannabe the Celeb Beader too, LOL)

Rose Garden

Ju sent me her baju kurung for some beadswork way before Ramadhan and I stitched this Rose Garden design (inspired by Geejai of Art of Beads but I did some alternation) for her. She requested the beadswork for neck area (5 inch length) and for the sleeves.

As she's wearing headscarf, after Hari Raya she sent back her baju kurung to increase the 5" length to 12" length for the neckline, plus extra beadworks for the sleeves.

Needlecraft is My Passions...

As far as I remember, my love in needlecraft started when I was in my Year 1 in primary school. I always look forward for our needlecraft session where I started learning stitch an X on gingham. Soon later our teacher will teach us some other stitches.

Later, I learnt to keep myself busy at JB Public Library the same year and there I found myself a book on crochet. I remember I told my dad to buy me some crochet needles & yarns, and he bought me my 1st yarn - a dark blue colour. This is where my love in crochet started.

After more than 20 yrs I started seriously cross stitching. I'm glad I found many local cross stitchers who share the same passion as mine. I also introduce myself to tatting, thanks to my sifu Faizon. And I do take up some short courses on curtain makings. At least I can sew my own curtains whenever i like.

And now I'm into beads & sequins embroideries on baju kurung/kebaya or blouses for almost 2 yrs. I started my small business in beads & sequins embroideries services this year, and Alhamdulillah the business goes well. I will share some of my beadworks done for my customers in another posting.

What I want to point here.. Needlecraft is my passions, and if my passions can generate some income, it's a blessed.

note : I'm really pissed off with someone who look down on my passions and my small business. Juz remember : 'life is like a wheel...'

Sequins Flowers Called Pink Roses

I'm always amazed how beaders created some flowers, using beads, sequins & pearls. They're are all sooo so beautiful yet intricate. Sometimes I spent almost hours looking at the photos of these flowers, analyzing how to they're made.

The moment my sister in law gave me her jubah to work on, I already decided to stitch sequins flowers on it. So for my 2nd project, I use pink & milky sequins with red beads and white pearls to add some colours to her light brown jubah. On the overall, I still not satisfied with my work. I know I need more practice in order to get the perfect skills.

My (not so) Newly Found Love...

Beads & Sequins Embroidery is something new to me. Due to difficulty to get back to employment for almost 1 year, I decided to pick up beads & sequins embroidery. I signed up for a class by Amoi2505 some time in April 2009. Before this, many of my friends has been persuaded me to learn beads & sequins embroidery so that I could generate some income from beading. Although I'm a bit hesitate at early stage, but later I found that I'm falling in love again - this time with beads & sequins !

The 20 techniques I learnt from my beads embroidery class.

My 1st beads embroidery wuz pyramid design on my old orangy baju kurung. I wanted to mix orange and turquoise beads for this design. But I couldn't find the right turqoise beads, so I opt for dark brown & orange combination instead. For this simple design, it took me MONTHS to complete juz for both hands. Ha.. ha.. ha.. it's not bcoz I'm slow but I could not find time to complete it after I get back to working life. BTW, I finally get a job a month after my beads embroidery class.

It's Already 2020...

... ermm, how time flies. we're now in year 2010, on the 28th day to be exact and yet, i haven't posted anything.

resolutions ...??? well, i think i better continue the previous years' resolutions which some has not 100% completed (almost all, actually.. ermm). i hope i can seriously working on some beads work this year. other than that, learning decoupage technics, quilting, cake decorating are also to be considered. ho ho.. now my list getting longer, hik hik hik.. anyway, i'm still hoping i could slot some time to continue my cross stitching, tatting & crochet in between my new interests.

It's Chocolaty Time...

I lurve this year December month, where we only have to work for 4 days in a week. Starting from last week, there are 4 public holidays falls in a row on every Fridays. That would meant I gonna have 3 days for weekends... Wallaaaa..

We didn't planned for any trips, we just wanna have some good rest at home. Of course on my side, I spent more time in the kitchen, do some laundry & spring cleaning. And I managed to steal some hours working on my beading embroidery.

Yesterday, the kids was suggesting if I could bake them a cake. Since I haven't bake any cakes for past 6 months (eversince I started working), I think that's a great ideas. Nafiz & Fina are excited when they learnt that I'm going to bake them a chocolate cake. My kids love chocolate cakes, I guess most kids do !

As usual, Nafiz are the one who love to help me out when it came to baking. I think I can start slowly teach him the proper technique to bake a cake ! For this chocolate cake, I add some walnuts so that rather than a plain chocolate cake, there are some nutty for the kids to munch other than the chocolate toppings with almonds & chocolate rice. And this is the first time my Batrisyia learning about double boiling technique.

I can see the happy face in Naquib's face every time he went to the kitchen to check on the cake. So after 45 mins, the cake is yummy - ready to eat. As usual, within minutes.. the cake almost finished. And Mama got another orders for next week - plain butter cake & orange cake.. Hope I can fulfilled their requests !

Well, this time round let's the photos speak of itself. What I can say, although most of us are tired after a three full days attending classes (FMQ, bags making, Etui, etc), everybody are happy... especially when you're surrounded with people of same interest.

Friends Gather a.k.a Quilters Retreat I

Finally.. I wuz at the Friends Gather aka Quilters Retreat from 20th till 22 November 2009 after being 50-50 about it before. Even after Leena booked the air ticket I'm still thinking, should I go or shouldnt ?

I wanted to be there so much but as mother I've been worried so much of leaving my 5 children at home. Especially when DH told he has to attend his company's team building programme on 21st & 22 November. This would mean they will be left 'home alone' during the weekend. Alhamdullillah, everything are ok with the help of my eldest - Naufal & Batrisyia. Of-course, while I wuz away I have to make few calls whenever I can.

We (Leena & me) took morning flight to Penang on Fireflyz while Roz took the earlier flight via Airasia and Nik has checked-in a night before. We met at the Penang Airport, had a quick breakfast before we took a cab to Vistana Penang. When we reached there, the FMQ Beginner Class has already started about 10 minutes or more. Although Roslind wuz such a gud instructor and explains clearly, I still feelling dizzy. Probably bcoz of lack of sleep the previous week.

During this class, I got the chance to get to know 'Rory'. This is my 1st time using Bernina Aurora 440 QE although I've seen it before. I'm really excited with this sewing machine but I still can make perfect loops using the BSR. Roselind, the instructor said, i'm too nervous. Ha.. ha.. ha.. we need to arrange for date, Rory.. LOL !!

Other than FMQ classes (Beginner on 1st day, Intermediate on 2nd day & Advanced on 3rd day), there also some bag classes & Etui. For the 1st day, I took the FMQ Beginner which cover the whole entire day and Intermediate class on the 2nd day, plus Trapunto during the afternoon session. Since I have make at least one bag as a 'prove' I attended this programme I decided not to take the FMQ Advanced class. After all, my FMQ skills are pretty bad. I need to practice more b4 I cud move to Advanced class.

Stash Swap

Hani @ Tini of Hani Love Sewing has volunteered to organize this Stash Swap recently. The response from the needlecrafters was really good until she has to organize for another 2 more group. Since I was among the first to submit my name, I was in the Group 1 and my partners are Fuzzy & Mus.

The participants need to give their partners some stash and in return she will also get stash from her other partner. The stash which includes the followings :

10 pcs of buttons
3 pcs of fat quarters
3 pcs of 1 mtr ribbons
2 pcs A4 size felt
a surprise stash to their partners

And this was what I sent to Mus.

I have received my stash from Fuzzy (TQ Fuzzy!), but yet to snap any photos. I will upload the photos soon once the photos are ready.

... Blooming Flowers

I have to admit that my flower arrangement skill pretty bad. The very last time I did, was the topiary flowers which I did about 2 years back So when my office mate request me to arrange some flowers, I only promised her with two words : 'I'll try.."

That weekend, I went to Romantika Shah Alam to shop for flowers. At the same time, tried to see how they arranged the flowers. And I went back home with big heart - I want to polish back my flower arrangement skills.

After hours playing with dried sponge & dried flowers, I finally made FOUR bouquets, not TWO as requested by my office mate.

I sold this to the office at RM 40. Is it too cheap or too expensive ?

and kept these two at home, as no buyers yet..

I love if you could leave some comments on my flower arrangement. Since I'm still new, I wish to improve my flower arrangement skills. Who knows, this will generate side income for me..

Friends Gather & Bag Making Classes

Yeayyy.... yeayyy.. I'm going to give myself a treat this coming November. I'm going to attend a Friends Gather at Penang's Vistana Hotel in Bukit Jambul on 20 - 22 November 2009. And I can't wait to attend some bag making classes, patchwork & quilting during my 3 days stay. Mind you, this will be my 1st time learning patchwork & quilting, ho.. ho.. ho... so I really can't wait !!!

There will be a demonstation of Bernina 8 Series (I called it 'Bumblebee'), the ultimate machine for quilters and machine embroidery. Yessss.. I'm gonna test drive this 'Bumbleblee', for sure !!

Since the Hari Raya Aidil Fitri will be celebrated on 20 September 2009 and the last day to participate in my 5th Blogaversary Giveaway is on 19 September 2009, I have decided to EXTEND my 5th Blogaversary Giveaway until 30 September 2009 @ 11.55 p.m.

The reasons for the extension merely on the followings :

I'll be travelling back to Johor for my Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebration at my parents' house (yeahh.. this year is Johor's turn !) on 19 September 2009, and will only be back after 24 September 2009

It's the eve of Hari Raya... so lotsa things to be done on that night - especially the last minutes preparations

I'll be busy helping mom & sisters cooking rendang, ketupat, sambal kacang, sambal tumis udang and kuah masak lodeh (a compulsory), ermm... yummy !!!

Lastly, I'm not too sure of the internet connection at my hometown - whether Celcom Broadband work well there..

Jon's Thread Escapade Tripple Celebrations

I had always wanted to learn tatting for umpteen years. And I wuz lucky enuf to got the chance to learn from my sifu Jon @ Faizon of Jon's Thread Escapade. I thought learning tatting is pretty easy like how I learnt crochet before. This time my judgement is wrong. I remember how my fingers are so stiff & I cant even flip & make a ring. But my sifu Jon is such a patience teacher, who never give up in teaching. I've to admit, I learnt tatting half way & yet to complete the whole lessons thou Jon keep on telling me, to let her know whenever I'm ready to grab the shuttles again.

Well, I would like to share my sifu Tripple Celebrations in the month of August :

She's going to celebrate her 3rd Blogoversary on 26 August 2009 (I'm gonna celebrate mine in another 4 days !)
She's also going to celebrate her birthday in the month of August too...
Lastly, Jon going to come out with her 2nd book on tatting. Jon has put much effort in producing her tatting books. I simply love all the patterns that she's created before.

Among My 1st Ever Cross Stitch...

Eerrmmm.. It been ages since the very last time I hold my cross stitch needles. I wanted to stitch but been distracted with so many other crafts. But, for sure I'm not giving up on my cross stitch. Hope, I will continue again.. one day..

Well while playing with the puter, I remember my webshot account. Lucky I remember my ID & password, LOL.. so long I didnt update anything there.

So I would like to share one my 1st ever completed cross stitch projects so far. It wuz stitched in 2004 - the year, when I start picking u p my cross stitch needles again. This is sp ecially stitched for Shirley for her birthday. I hope she still have this in her collection. Oppss.. her birthday is coming next week !!

See the aida ? I stitched this on aida 10 ct. I think th is the only aida I found nearby my area. Later I've upgraded myself to 11ct , 16ct & 18ct as well to linen. Among all, I think I like 16ct & linen d best.

For this flower bouquet.. I didnt remember where I keep this piece. It should be in one of the XS mags in my collection. But I remember this piece very well, as I used to stitch this in the car on my way to work, of course with DH driving.. hik hik..

Check Your Website Speed

For quite some time, I realised my blog is getting slower & slower. During a chat with Zalita, she suggest that I start using Firefox. And I found it a bit.. a bit.. arr.. better with Firefox, compared to IE though I still feel my blog is still slow. I do checked with other friends, and their comments : well.., nope.. I can easily accessed to your blog easily. But I still not satisfied.

Today, while bloghopping I found the answer - from Din3187 blog. He wrote here about checking your website speed using the web tool from iwebtool. If the test result shown your blog is more than 200KB, it means your website is slow and you should minimise some widgets or gadgets.

Upon checking, this is the result. My blog size is 328.31 KB, with load time 0.28 seconds. urrmmm..

So my feeling is right.. Now i must get rid some of the widgets & gadgets from my blog. Do you have any suggestions, which widgets & gadgets in my blog that I shud remove ?

Just for record, I have never met Aniza & Leena in person before though we knew each other online for many many years. We finally met in June and our blind date was at Sakura, SS 19. After that we straight away arrange for another blind date on 12 June 2009, this time at Shah Alam where Linda & Aida joined us.

It's 40 !

See this number - 030609.

It's today date. A bit similar to 030669 - the day I was borned 40 yrs ago. So, today is my birthday ! And I wish one day I could owned a car bearing the plate J-- 3669.

Other than phone calls, smses, emails & some wishes thru Facebook (you can add me if you wish), I received a hand bouquet from my sisters sent to my office. Owwhh.. the birthday gal wuz so shy actually, lucky my boss wasn't around.

Later, my son Nafiz called to inform they bought a female rabbit as my birthday gift. Actually my hubby decided to buy this rabbit as a partner to our current male rabbit - Mr Coco. Now Mr Coco got a companion which we call her Ms Crunch.. Ha ha ha.. Coco Crunch.

BTW, birthday gal got birthday cake as well. The kids waiting eagerly for me as they can't wait for cake cutting ceremony and blowing the candles. Anyway, almost every months we had this cake cutting ceremony as our birthdays (7 of us) falls on different months.

It's Pay Day....

Time really flies so fast. Seems it already a month I been working in this company. A friend wuz kind enough to recommend me to be a PA to her hubby. For note, I been looking for job for nearly a year after resigned from the previous company. So her offer is something I can't resist. Especially when I have a long 'wish list' - among all a good sewing machine either Janome or Bernina and my personal lappie (Aida - you're so lucky, you now owned your personal lappie. Again M jealous here tau !!!).

So, today is the pay day. I'm smilling happily when I saw the figure creditted to my account. Immediately I have a long long list of things to buy. (Hello Azie... you have another 30 days to live with that figure yea.. don't overspend yea).

I think I should give myself a treat with my 1st salary here. After all my birthday is around the corner (nak juga mention here, ek !). I plan to visit LNS one of these days to buy some stash & fabby.. Probably Craft World @ SS2 or Sakura @ SS18. May be I could get some materials for my 'secret project' there or buy quilting kit so that I can start learning quilting. Anyone want to join me ...??

M Back .... !!!!

Pheww... Its been more than a month since my last posting after my puter acting up. And now, M back ! Back to blogging world & back to working life as well.

During my absent, nothing much I done except I take up 'Sulam Manik' lesson. So far, I yet to finish my 1st sulam manik project. I did Manik Pyramid to my old baju kurung and only 50% completed. Now with M back to working life, I dunno when shall I finish this project. Just for note, my neighbour who went for the same sulam manik class has made more than 5 projects for herself & her network. Perghh.. and I didn't complete not even 1 project. Gosh !!

My Computer is Sick !

Arghhh.... how do feel when one day, you turned on your pc & you see a blank screen ? Frustated right ?? Especially when you know you have lotsa things stored in there. And you have planned a day b4 to migrate your files on that unlucky day. Yeahh.. that's what happened to me last week. I'm so frustated, tensed and a lot more for the entire week. Lucky I'm still able to retrieve my emails & do some bloghopping using my hp, although a bit restricted.

This week, my pc a bit ok though not fully recovered. And it getting slower than b4. Forgot to ask DH whether he did some backup b4 he reformat my pc. I hope he did. Otherwise, I have no photos of my late Princess Mocha anymore. Lesson learnt : DO NOT STORED YOUR FILES IN YOUR C:// DRIVE.

But what worst now, I've lost my 1GB old thumbdrive where I have stored most of my files especially my cross stitch charts. Like pepatah Melayu said : Sudah jatuh ditimpa tangga.. Ouchhh !!!

Holaaa... this is my 1st time ever doing scrapbooking. Never tried at all b4. And the model is Fina, my 7 years old youngest daughter. Actually this is not the actual scrapbooking, it's online scrapbooking. I saw Maya has created one, and she is so generous by giving the link as well.

Well, I rate my 1st scrapbooking project as so-so. Everthing is there, you just need add your favourite photos, and re-arranged to your liking but yet, mine ... urgghhh. See, it shows how uncreative I am !! It's ok, first-timer maa...

Let's Play With Marble...

I played around with some butter, sugar & flour and eggs of course yesterday afternoon. Had wanted to bake the cake in the morning so that my kids can bring for their afternoon school. But as usual, I always delaying my work until I start at 4 pm.

I remember Chetam gave me this recipe 6 years ago, when I first bought my oven and I have tried few times before. The ingredients are quite basic and the instructions are pretty easy. And the cake baked well except the brown part looks a bit pale due to shortage of cocoa powder. I guess I have to make my way to the shop to get more cocoa powder after this.

I was smiling the moment the kids entered the house after their afternoon school and make comments that they smelled something that make them hungry. And this is how it look 15 minutes later - only a piece left for me & hubby to share a bite. Nope they didn't finished the whole tray, half a tray actually as the other half goes to my neighbours.

And this was our dinner last nite : long beans, sambal udang, oyster burger & chicken soup. Later when DH came back, he brought same crabs and asked me to fry some. Quite heavy dinner it was, with 5 dishes served on the table. I think I'm in the mood of cooking & baking yesterday. Surprisingly, we didn't managed to finish them all probably the kids are quite full after taking the marble cake. Sorry kids, you gonna eat these for your lunch today as mommy a bit lazy to cook.

Fresh From Oven

Yeah... this brownie really fresh came from the oven !!

I juz baked it half an hour ago with the assistance of Nafiz, my youngest boy. He volunteer to help out and even wait until it bake.

I got the recipe from Zalita aka Cheez, who eventually got it from Aniza. Zalita has tried this recipe few times and keep on encouraging me to try it out. And I have to agree with her that the recipe pretty easy and the brownie is sooo yummy.. And of course Nafiz love it !

The recipe suggesting to add some creame cheese on top of brownie, but I opt for almond flakes as suggested by Zalita. The reason for doing so : I didn't buy the creame cheese yet

On the other hand, today I found out the bakery shop nearby my house is selling the creame cheese. In that case, I do not need to travel all the way to Shah Alam juz to get myself a creame cheese. For info, it takes me half an hour or almost 30 km to reach Shah Alam from my house !!

Happy New Year & My Carrot Cake

In another few minutes, we gonna say good bye 2008 and welcoming 2009. I hope in 2009, I will be spending more time stitching, tatting, baking cakes & few hours a week on gardening. Not to forget, I hope I will turn as a Quilter in 2009.

So as a starter, I made this carrot cake today. This is my 2nd attempt baking this cake after I FAILED yesterday. I follow Anna Olson's Pineapple Carrot Cake Recipe from Sugar but somehow my cake turned soggy. Ha ha.... I have to admit, I dunno how to bake a cake !

For today's carrot cake, I follow Hanieliza's recipe.. Well, this time round my carrot cake baked well except it a little bit hard as my itchy hand add more flour to the recipe ! Lesson to learn, just follow the recipe accordingly and bake often, so that I will get the perfect baking skill.

I also never tried to do my own icing b4. The actual recipes (both Anna's & Hanieliza's) says to use cheese creame as part of the ingredients for the frosting. But I don't have any stock of this cheese creame therefore I opt to do a normal icing using some butter, icing sugar & milk.

Again, I have to admit that my cake decorating also poor, hik hik... Well, I should go for cake decorating classes I guess... ;-)

Thank you Elisabeth & Sheila for giving advice to overcome my blog problem. I did think of creating new blog at Wordpress but may be I still stick to Blogspot. I also tried tips like what Shiela suggested, but to no success. May be I need more time to keep trying.

Blog Under Construction ... Sigh

I always wanted to change my 2 column blog template to 3 column template but for nearly more than a year, I didnt found any template that suit me. I was toying with few templates last week but I guess blogger is acting now. Each time I try to change the template, I get an error message like this : bx-error messages.

So for the time being, I have to declare that my blog is UNDER CONSTRUCTION until blogger can solve this problem so that I can add more features to my blogs.

As promised, this week I start stitching on Inazz's RR. Pity Inazz, for gotta wait for more than a year b4 her baby really back home. I guess this is one of the longest RR ever completed. Out of 6 participants, I guess only Hani & Niesa received their RR back.

I wanted badly to do my own topiary bouquet.. and this is my first ever topiary I ever did, many many moon ago..

Lastly.. let me introduce Mr Nemo, our 4 years old male cat. We have another 2 more cats at home - Creame & Lady Mocha. Not forgetting, we also have our Mr Coco who happily jumping here n there in our little garden. Will upload their photos when I got a chance.

Wishing myself a happy birthday, hik hik... it is one of the best birthdays that i had. Thank you dear mom & dad, sisters & frenz, for all the birthday wishes. I had a birthday cake bought by DH n kids, who waiting eagerly. It really touched when my youngest doter gave me a flower, which she plucked from my little garden. Thank you, Baby !!!

Today is my 2nd day at work, at this new office. Though it's small office, I kinda like the environment. But one thing for sure, I gotta to learn a lot of thing here.

I have been wanted to do it for more than a year, finally I did it yesterday. I juz tendered my resignation letter after being here for past 12 years !!! In a month time, unless I got any offer letter I will be unemployed.

After giving much thought, I think this is the best decision I ever made in order to satisfy everybody. I juz want a piece of mind, less stressed n giving my full attention to the family as well to my hobbies.

I can't wait spending my time at home, stitching, tatting, gardening other than look after the kids and house chores. You guys know how I desperately miss my hobbies for past 6 months. And dunno whether for next 6 months I will be joining the Desperate Housewives Club.. ahaks..

Alhamdulillah, thanks God I got 3-4 interviews to attend this week. Wish me luck !!

OMG !!! I forgot how to read tatting pattern

I been visiting few local blogs like Dania's, Kak Ain's & the others and very impressed with their tatting skills. I haven't do any tatting work for couple of months and decided to tat a simple doily. At first, I wuz so happy that I still remember how to flip n make a ring. But at one stage, I forgot how to read the pattern.. OMG !!!

So I decided to refer back to my tatting notes by my sifoo - Teacher Faizon. And this is the outcome.. I better brush up my tatting skill !!! Start from the Exercise 1..

Lazy Stitcher Who Miss Her Stitching...

Whoaaa... It been a while since my last posting. I guess I’m not only a lazy stitcher, but a lazy blogger as well * sigh *

Yess !! I do miss my stitching, I miss it a lot !!! As far as I could remember, the very last time I do my stitching is a month after Hari Raya. I stitched for my Needlecrafter’s Yahoo Group RR – working on Niesa’s RR. A cute raspberry teapot, chart from Stitchworld.

Today is the last day of 2007. I don’t have much progress in my stitching this year, only a couple of exchange & RR from local stitching group that I joined. I wish I cud stitch more in 2008. At least to complete my UFOs and my BIPs project. Well, most of my stitching projects other than exchanges & RRs are big projects * sigh *

I didn’t continue my tatting this year, thou I bought some tatting stash. As usual M the collector, hik hik..

For year 2008, among my many resolutions (not really resolutions as every year it still the same – no change) I hope I cud spend some time on my stitching, tatting & gardening as well in 2008. But I foresee, I have limited time as I am maidless recently. My maid who supposed to come back after the Christmas after a month break, did not come back. After some discussions with dear hubby, we decided not to take a maid anymore. But we have to give 2 months as trial period. If we cud manage without a maid, then we’ll do without one. Otherwise if worst comes to worst, we got no choice but to employ a maid.

So do wish me gud luck for year 2008 !!

A Tribute to Smoothy

I wuz at Mid Valley yesterday, attending a reunion with my former classmates when my son called me. He said he saw our cat, Smoothy wuz run over by school van in front their school. At first, I thought he might be mistaken Smoothy with other cat. Until I reached home in the evening, my daughther has confirmed about Smoothy sudden demise. For a second, I wuz speechless and refused to say anything about Smoothy. But the true facts, I feel really sad that her life ended in such a tragic accident.

Before I went to sleep last nite, I saw my other cat - Nemo wuz sitting quietly at the sofa. I brought him to my sons' room where he has his fav spot. Later when I went to check on my daughters, I felt that he bite my toe. I cuddle him and saw his sad face. I looked into his eyes, and I saw his sorrows. I think he know about Smoothy's death. They were closed before I left Smoothy at my children's school. I tried to console Nemo, but at the end M the one who shed tears for the thought that if Smoothy still with us, she's still breathing.

To Smoothy, I regret for what I've done to you. I feel sorry and really sad you have to endure such pain - being run over by a van. I know, by now you will be well taken care up there. Smoothy.. life isn't smooth like your name.. but now you've gone smoothly..

Smoothy, I LOVE YOU and gonna MISS you...

p/s : This is my 1st time crying for the death of my cat. I didn't feel this sad, when my beloved cat - Tutu gone missing last year.

I can't resist myself from joining this Quaker Pinkeep Exchange when Mona announced it over the board. And guess who's my partner ? The organiser, herself.. hik hik..

Since I have very limited collection of quaker charts, it took me longer time to find for suitable chart. Finally I fall in love with this chart called 'Essuie de Parade', from Gigi's blog. I stitched one of the motifs from the chart, using DMC variegated no. 111 stitched on white 28ct linen.

For the back piece, I used a fabby with prints looks like quaker (see the background of the photo) which I bought some time back from Craft World.

I've seen Zalita stitched a pendibule for her partner for the last Needlecrafter Scissors Fob, such a cute one. So when I newly joined another Malaysian based cross stitcher's yahoo group - XstitchesNXchanges, they're in the midst of organising a Pendibule Exchange and I've signed up.

So for those who has visiting my blog b4, this is what the pink and purple thingy that M in love end up. This is my first ever pendibule for my partner, Dania stitched on 28ct lilac linen which I bought from Linda of Stitch N Such. The patern wuz actually a border taken from the Joan Elliot book. My personal advice for stitching a pendibule, is try to look up for pattern meant for border as it much easy to work on.

NC Scissors FOB Exchange

This is the 2nd exchange that I joined this year.. It wuz organised by Needlecrafter Yahoo Groups (NC). This is the scissors FOB that I stitched for Normia. I chose to stitch her initial 'N'. After I have completed the scissors FOB only I realised what I've stitched for Normia are a bit bigger. It looks like a pincushion rather than a scissor FOB.

In Love With Pink & Purple

I guess M in love with those pink & purple colors & these small roses as well.. urkkk M still strugling to stitch the other side. March is ending and I still have 2 exchanges yet to be mail out. Not to mention my Needlecrafter RR which is due to mail out by 1st week on Apr 07. And I only managed to stitched 300 stitches out of 3600 stitches for my box... help .. help.. !!!!

Heart to Heart

I showed to Cheez a.k.a. Zalita my finished XS piece for Lillie and ask her any suggestion for the finishing. Instead, she suggest if we cud have an exchange between us.

At first M thinking to stitch the other French Inspired Heart, a complementary pattern from the The Gift of Stitching. Since she prefer something in green/turqoise, she requested if I cud stitch the same pattern as what I stitch for Lillie as it’s features the peacocks. I used the Malaysian made overdyed, Dip & Twist - DTN --- on a brown 28ct linen.

And this is a Quaker Heart stitched by Cheez for me, designed by Janice Wood using white DMC and some overdyeds on 32ct lugana (in mocha). Thanks Cheez !!!! I love it !

25 Motifs Challenge – My 3rd, 4th and 5th Motif

During my long absence I only managed to finish 3 more motifs. Therefore, I have another 20 motifs (wow !! that’s a lot !!) to complete by October 2007. I need some turbo shuttles I guess. Not only that, I also need some express refresher class on tatting.

French Redwork Exchange

At the end of 2006, Needles & Crafts organized a French Redwork Exchange (FRE) where those who participate can stitch anything, be it a pin cushion, needlecase book, pin keep or anything but one theme to follow – it must be a French chart to be stitched in RED colour.

Barbara being my partner send this beautiful needlecase to my office address. It is such a beautiful rose, of course all stitched in red. Such a lovely piece indeed.

For this FRE, I stitched this French Inspired Heart, a complimentary pattern from the online XS magazine – The Gift of Stitching. As M not gud in my finishing, so I did a pinkeep for Lillie, which does not involve any sewing. Bitten by Tatting Bugs Again..

I’ve been on tatting slumps (errkk.. is there such words ?? hik hik) since last Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebration. And far as I can remember, I tried my tatting skill again some time in December 2006, but sad to say that I’ve lost not only my tatting skills – I also dunno how to reach tatting pattern.. OMG !!!

Last nite, while trying to find some flosses for my cross stitch post card card I found back my tatting bag. A glance at the shuttles like calling me to try them again.. And whoilaaa.. I get back my tatting skills and able to read some simple tatting pattern. So last nite instead of stitching, I spent about 2 hours trying to do Cherub Doily, a freebie from Tat’s All. Of-course I can’t finish the whole doily as I did some mistakes here and there even my lunch tatting also didn’t really help. Look forward to play again with my shuttles tonite. Opppss… Desperate Housewives Seasons 3 starts tonight at 10.30 pm and I don’t want to miss this 1st episode… !!!

Welcoming 2007, Bye Bye 2006

It’s already February, going for the 2nd week but I have yet to welcome 2007 and say good bye to 2006. I wud say that it’s been a slow progress in my stitching in year 2006 thou I have started at least 2 big projects, Gone Fishing & Garden Fairies in 2006. Sadly none of them has completed. So with the coming of 2007, I hope I will able to complete at least one of my big projects. And I also have a big hope too that 2007 will be my great sititching year !!!

I have not updated my blog for couples of months, thou I did completed 2 stitching exchanges from Needles & Crafts (French Red Exchange) & Needlecrafters (Scissors FOB).

I have really slow down on my tatting, I guess I need to take some refresher classes from Teacher Faizon one of these days. On the 25 Motifs Challenge, still it’s a slow progress.. I managed to complete 5 out of 25 motifs that I supposed to do. Weyyy… I got 20 motifs to complete by October 2007. Errmm.. I need to dig out back my tatting notes b4 Sharon goes after me.. Sorry Sharon !!

My 2nd Motif

Glad that M back now, wuz away for few days as my 4th son wuz hospitalized. He had a fractured elbow after fell down from neighbour's fence. We thot it's not serious but end up he need to undergo a surgery.

This is my 2nd motif for 25 Motif Challenge. The original pattern wuz taken from The Old Crochet Magazine, Summer 1998 Vol 20, designed by Darlene Polachic but I changed the 2nd round. The original pattern very lovely, but I dunno how to proceed for the 2nd round. But I'll try again to work on it some other time.

25 Motif Challenge - A Start

I think I moved a step ahead by joining the 25 Motif Challenge even thou M still green in tatting. For this 25 Motif Challenge, participants are required to tat 25 motifs in 12 months. We, the participants are allowed to tat any patterns from the book, freebies or our own design. As M still new in tatting, I plan to try the freebies tatting patterns available from the net.

For a starter, I completed this design from Needledreams Tat-Along Project Blog using the DMC Cebelia No. 80. Since the thread is very very fine for me the beginner, I have to be extra careful in order I did not make any mistakes.

p/s : Nik, the heart pattern is a freebie from the net. Unfortunately I didn't remember the link. Will try to figure it out for you yea..

It's been a while since my last posting.. Well, I juz found my new love.. something I never met before.. hik hik..

Yeahh.. I fell in love with 'tatting' ever since July.. Since then, shuttle & tatting threads are my friends.. Thanks Faizon, for being my 'sifu'.. The funny thing during my 1st class, my fingers are all stiff.. I unable to hold the threads properly & wuz still I cannot do the 'flip' properly.. After the 1st class, I try myself to do the double stitch & picot, but still I cannot close the 'ring'.. Thanks again to Faizon, for willing to give an extra class the following week.

Thou I think tatting is a bit tough for me, not as easy as crochet, I'll never give up..

Progress

Well.. I shall do my progress report as promised.. All 12 fishes were survived when I reached office at 8 am this morning. By 11 am, one has dead. I think it’s bcoz the water get contaminated with the food leftover. The rest seems fighting for fresh air, so I decided to change the water. Huh.. like this, looks that I have to change the water daily. What about over weekend ?? This makes me worry !! Anyway, Shirley promised to bring her unused water pump tomorrow. Well, actually M kinda of training my fishes to survive without using the water pump. Anyway M have a higher hope on my guppies.

Everybody were being concerned on my new toys.. everybody keep on asking will they last. hemmm.. my answer : WAIT & SEE. I hope I can name them, when there will left a few of them. Currently with 11 fishes swimming around, I might forget what’s their name & it belong to who.. LOL !!! A office colleague suggesting that I rare the Fighting Fish but M not sure whether will they be fighting if I put 2 – 3 Fighting Fish in one jar. Fighting fish.. ho ho.. I remember those days when I still a young girl, I used to catch this Fighting Fish from the ‘drain’ infront my grandma’s house. ho ho those were the days.. now one Fighting Fish will cost U easily RM 2.50 and abv where I got them free during my ‘kampung’ days..

Stitching progress.. yup I take up my Gone Fishing project for abandoned it for almost 3 weeks. M very much sure that I not be able to complete this project by Aug. Mind U, I have another 1 month to work on this BIG (to me.. it’s BIG) project.

By the way, I got myself a 12" hoop for my Gone Fishing project. Well, I like using it but the only one problem I encountered, it’s pretty difficult to refer to the chart while stitching. And my idea run wild in the wee hours.. I fold my A4 xerox copy of the chart into small square, and I clip it to my upper corner of the hook using the cloth peg !! Well, I think it’s a cost saving & cheaper ways of having own chart holder. Of-course if U have a nice, proper chart holder that wud be much better !!! Hope be able to show the pix of my ‘DIY chart holder’ in the next posting.

Well.., I get myself this lil jar and some glass pebbles for RM 5 each from one the shop at Giant. And find my way to a pet shop where I bought 10 baby carps for RM 1 only & 2 guppies which cost me RM 1 each. Well.. M not too sure how long it will last, as the shop assistant did warned me guppies may survive longer rather than the carps. Furthermore with the high population in the small jar and without the air pump, I wudn’t expect more but hope they will survive.

I put my new toys on my office desk next to the computer. It pretty joy see them swimming happily. It’s something like therapy to me, or shall I say for feng shui wise.. well dunno, don’t really believe in feng shui as my luck wuz never better for past year according to feng shui. Or probably it juz for décor, so that my desk not look dull as usual.

I must admit that I love to rare fish since M still young kids. I remembered Dad always bought me fish for my aquarium, it wont last long as I also put my hand into the aquarium & played with them. I do have fish pond at home where I see my carp growing for 2 years now. I love sit by the pond watching them swimming & listening to the sound of water flowing from the mini pot to the pond.

So.. what do you think of my new toys ? They’re gorgeous rite.. anyway I have plan what to say, if my boss ever ask why I suddenly rare fish in the office. I will tell him that they’re my THERAPY and let him feel guilty about it.. LOL !!!

Well.. shall report on their progress tomorrow if time permit. Juz hope all 12 will be fine the next morning..

It’s My Birthday… !!!!

M still in my bed when I heard SMS coming in. It was from my younger sister who wish me happy birthday in very early morning. Wow.. I smiled & it has made my day.. Soon after, my house phone rang.. This time it’s my mom, purposely called juz to wish me Happy Birthday.. Thanks Mom for your wish & for bring me over to this wonderful world. And Dad called me half an hour later, with the same purpose.. I guess Dad has never failed to remember my birthday every year.. and I knew, I have a special place in his heart from the beginning.

DH wuz teasing me, saying that this year I wake up in early hours and everybody is wishing me happy wonderful birthday.. Yeahh.. infact it is a very wonderful birthday this year. When DH whisper me his wishes, I did ask him what he get for me. He ask what I want & I answered that I want a brand new car.. LOL !!! Very naughty me hik hik.. He took something from the closet, a small paper bag.. and WOW !!!! Guess what, I get a pair of earings from him. Love you dear, thanks for the gift.

We decided to bring the kids to watch the movie – Over The Hedge, which later followed with lunch. The kids enjoyed the movie so much that they ask us to bring to watch another movie next week. I guess the kids are addicted to the cinema now !! We reached home quite late, almost 5 pm. By then, everybody wuz tired. But the birthday gal still energetic. I bake a chocolate cake, from the ready-made cake mixture of course. As usual, the kids are more than happy with whatever I bake for them. Initially we thought of having a BBQ dinner at our patio, but we ended up having steamboat dinner at your dining hall.

On the stashing part, I ordered a few San Man Originals charts and they have arrived safely. I also treat myself by buying the Joan Elliot Sentiments & Sayings..

Overall, I shall say this is one of the most memorable birthday I had. Thanks to every body for the birthday wishes.. To Mom, Dad & dear Hubby.. I love you the most..

A Productive Blogging Day....???

Looking at the number of posts I posted today, shall I say today is my most productive blogging day. Wasn’t in the mood of updating my blog before, as M hunting for a 3 column blog template before I post any posting. But today boss is away attending training, I took the opportunity to update my blog thou I still cudn’t find the perfect 3 column blog template. And I’ll keep hunting..

Won’t be around tomorrow as M meeting Cheez & Linda b4 go hunting for old XS mags at Sg Wang. Probably if time permits, might drop by at Yee’s. Might hold my purse and CC tights.. LOL !!!

I won’t be around on Thursday too as I have to go the school to meet & collect my children progress report. Hope the session won’t take longer time, as I planned to do some repainting at home. The last time I painted my living room wuz 1 ½ years ago.. I guess the walls need some facelift now..

Stitching Bee & First Time Linen Encounter

Went to Nik’s house last Sunday for a stitching bee session after our magazine hunting trip to Amcorp. Well, only managed to grab Cross Stitch Gold, Issue 37 from the 9.90 mags shop.

The stitching bee session started at 4 pm and it took us about 2 to 2 ½ hours. During this session, I stitched a birth sampler for Baby Alya which I started a night b4, using linen. This is my first time encounter stitching on linen, but I love the smoothness and the hoop did help me a lot.

Thank Nik, for hosting this stitching bee session & look forward to join for another session. Wish if I stay somewhere nearby my stitching friends, where we can always have our stitching bee together every weekend.

Patchwork Drawstring Bag

I always love patchwork & quilt.. wanted to learn to do them in a proper way. Instead M stuck to cross-stitching for this 2 years b4 I went for my PW & quilt class. As I said to a stitching friend b4, once U R hooked to cross-stitching, there’s no way out.. U won’t find your way back home LOL !!!

I had done my patchwork once, a blanket for my elder son. But Mom took it to hometown, as she likes it so much. Yeahh M happy that Mom like it. Wish I cud make a proper nice patchwork blanket for her one day.

Now after 2 years, M tempted to try on patchwork again. This time round, I decided to do a patchwork drawstring bag for my elder daughter, Chacha. It’s kind a mad decision, where I start hunting for the fabrics from my collection at 6 p.m. Cut them in pieces & patched them back. With a help from online tutorial, I start my drawstring bag project. Took a break at 8 pm to prepare dinner, b4 start it back straight away at 9.30 p.m. I didn’t realized it wuz already 2.30 a.m. when I’ve finished my patchwork drawstring back 100%. Well, I’ve to admit that my workmanship not that good but M juz more than happy when I saw my daughter’s smiles when pass it to her. In return, my other 4 children requesting theirs… !!!

FK.. ?? Bullion Roses ... ??

Hey.. look at what I did, my FKs & bullion roses.. During one of my visit to Linda’s house, I took the opportunity to learn how to stitch the French Knot (FK). Later, she also showed me how to stitch Bullion Knot (BK) as well. So when I get back home, I spent hours, practising my FKs & BKs.. And I has had a trial out to stitch bullion roses after referring to one of the Australian Smocking Embroidery (ASE) magazine that I owned. Thou it did not turn out nicely, at least I’ve some ideas on how to do it. I think practice makes perfect, rite..??

First Ever Big Projects

This is my first ever big project.. or shall I say my focus piece for 2005, the Gone Fishing. Chart wuz taken from 2005 Cross Stitch Collection magazine bought by DH during one of his overseas trip last year. Since he like this chart very much, I decided to stitch for him for his coming birthday in September. I hope I will be able to finish it by Aug the latest, b4 sending it for framing.
This design is rather big for me.. 204 x 240 stitches where I find it really challenging. It requires about 33 colours, and there’s a lot of colour changes within 10 x 10 square boxes. And all area will be fully stitched. Earlier I think to stitch in using linen, but after deep thinking I decided to stitch in on recommended 16ct aida. And I substitute Anchor floss to DMC and I hope it turn well once completed. And happily I like to report M almost in my 30% progress.

My Garden Fairies

I love this chart very much the very 1st time I saw it featured in 2005 UK Cross Stitcher magazine. The garden fairies are so cute, hiding among the flowers n leaves. I knew I won't be able to stitch it as I consider this chart quite big for me until I saw it in Aw's webshot. I wuz so tempted to stitch it for myself. Finally I've started stitching it on my very own tea-dyed 14ct aida. I only stitched for abt 10% from the chart, juz to please the urge of stitching it. Sadly I've abandoned it for almost 2 months as M concentrating on my focus piece.. Gone Fishing. Shall pick up my Garden Fairies when I get bored with my Gone Fishing.. LOL !! After all I want to see at least one fairy smiling looking at me there..

2005 Valentine Stitch Card Exchange

This year I took part in 2 Valentine Stitch Card Exchange (VSCE). The first one by Malaysian Stitchers Yahoo Group which goes to Kak Ji of Terengganu. And in return I got mine from Kak Jie too.. The chart wuz taken from the 2005 UK Crossstitcher magazines. It wuz stitched on my own hand-dyed 14ct aida. I like this design very much especially the love shape border. Anyway, I didn't really happy the way I did my card. Very unprofessional, may be I shud brush up my card making skills..

For Needlecrafter Yahoo Group VSCE, I stitched this patchwork design which I named 'Patchwork Heart' for Linda. Original design wuz taken from old magazine (I think for than 10 yrs old mag). Actually it came in set of 9, but I stitch one for this occasion. Thinking to do all 9 patchwork hearts one day.. when ?? he he... only God knows..

My 2006 To Do List

I keep on telling myself that this year, I wud not joining any exchanges but to stitch only for myself. But I broke my promise by joining 2 exchanges early this, i.e. Valentine Stitched Card Exchange (VSCE) for both Yahoo Group : Malaysian Stitchers & Needlecrafter. Anyway, I have completed and send out my VSCEs to my secret partner. Shall posted the photos once my another partner received hers.

Meanwhile, this is my ‘To Do List’ for year 2006. Thou it’s not that much, but I know I have to struggle to finish it, especially the ‘Gone Fishing’ chart for my husband’s birthday in September. Hope I have enuf time to complete it before his birthday..
